EUROPEAN CULTURAL FOUNDATION
“Acting together with creativity, because democracy needs imagination”
The European Cultural Foundation (ECF) was set up in Geneva in 1954.
ECF strives for an open, democratic and inclusive Europe within which culture is a valued and key contributor. ECF supports and connects cultural change-makers whose work contributes to an ongoing cross-sectoral debate on Europe and Europe’s place in the world.
ROOTS & ROUTES INTERNATIONAL
The international ROOTS & ROUTES network was founded in 2001 in the Netherlands and consists of the umbrella organisation RRIA (ROOTS & ROUTES International Association) and its member organisations in various countries.
ROOTS & ROUTES INTERNATIONAL creates interdisciplinary projects with young artists, promoting social and cultural diversity in arts and media, combining artistic languages, experimental education and social projects.
EUROPEAN COMMONS ASSEMBLY
“Omnia sunt communia !”
A convergence space for European Commons.
ECA is conceived as a commons, a community (of activists, researchers, students, teachers, citizens etc.) who steward a shared space for trans-local collaboration on commons. The ECA is a non-hierarchical, peer-to-peer space for collaboration, rather than a body of representation.
Commoning relates to the network-based cooperation and localized bottom-up initiatives already sustained by millions of people around Europe and the world.
ECA is an open call for the provision of resources and the necessary freedom to create, manage and sustain our commons. The ECA Commoners call upon governments, local and national, as well as European Union institutions to facilitate the defence and growth of the commons, to eliminate barriers and enclosures, to open up doors for citizen participation and to prioritize the common good in all policies, rejecting the idea that we are merely self-interested individual consumers or competitors in a fierce market jungle.
