History of the place
The association Les Têtes de l’Art has been permanently located at Comptoir de la Victorine since 2000, situated between the districts of Belle de Mai and Saint-Mauront in the 3rd arrondissement of Marseille.
This former matchstick factory, turned into a spice counter and now an industrial wasteland, is shared with other social, artistic, and cultural structures.

Since then, Les Têtes de l’Art and the historic residents of Le Comptoir, attached to its identity and convinced of its importance for the territory and its inhabitants, are daily committed to its preservation and restoration.
2013
The association “Le Grand Comptoir” was founded to address issues related to the maintenance and rehabilitation of the building.
The co-presidency of this association is ensured by Les Têtes de l’Art and L’Art de Vivre (a theater and sound creation company), joined in 2021 by Appel d’Aire (a metal and wood workshop school for disengaged youth).

Comptoir de la Victorine has been included in the urban renewal plan concluded between the City of Marseille and ANRU (National Agency for Urban Renewal), opening the door to a unique perspective of rehabilitation.
Today, the spaces are conceived as an open area for residents and structures for occasional needs or specific projects, all within the framework of popular education, participatory creation, and inclusion.
